Privacy
Sediment sends nothing about your shelf anywhere. Two requests leave the app or the browser, and this page lists exactly what each one records.
What is recorded
| Field | Where it comes from | Example |
|---|---|---|
| route | the request path | download, feed |
| app version | the update check’s User-Agent header | 0.30.0 |
| Sparkle version | the same header | 2.7.0 |
| served version | the version the download or the feed pointed at | 0.31.0 |
| country | Cloudflare’s request metadata | SG |
| macOS version | reserved; empty today |
No IP address, no full User-Agent, no cookies, no identifier of any kind. The download redirect records a row when you click Download; the update check records a row each time the app asks for the feed, about once a day.
Where the bytes come from
The download and the update itself are served by GitHub from the public releases repository. GitHub’s own logging applies to those fetches.
